We are waiting for our son from Haiti. He came out of IBESR one year ago this month, waited in MOI for 6 months, and we've been in process of getting his travel docs since the end of October. Right now, we can not reach anyone who can or will tell us when his passort will be issued. We are planning a trip to Haiti the end of this month to stay with our son and track down his papers so he can come home. Can anyone suggest anything that can help? We're beyond frustrated!

Kodak is actually a woman. She is adopting her son through the same orphanage as we adopted Lilly through. This situation needs to be rectified. There are many agencies working on it as we speak. I find with Haiti adoptions things change drastically every few months. In the end it seem though that these kids do come home.
Hi Beth,

I'm just a "guest" but I hope to write a couple of posts before the new blogger gets going. :o)

Thanks for all the great info! I haven't heard anything about it, but I'll definitely be looking into it. Do you mind sharing who your agency is?

I've been eagerly awaiting a new Haiti adoption blogger! :o)

We recently received some information from our agency regarding a new requirement. This is the gist of it:
"The USCIS office in Haiti is instituting a new program that is supposed to get your last part of the adoption done faster. So some of this will pertain to you now, and some will be for later. Background: in Haiti the U.S. immigration has to do an investigation of the child's eligibility for adoption and this has always been done at the end of the adoption. To save time, the U.S. has instituted a pilot program called Adjudicate Orphans First, which will cause this investigation to be done during the adoption and not at the end. Steps that must be finished before you can apply for Adjudicate Orphans First (AOF):

1. You must have a referral
2. You must have received your USCIS (I-171h or I-797) approval after having submitted your i600a (which is an immigration form each family has or will be submitting near the beginning of your whole process.
3. Your adoption must not be finished in IBESR yet."

Have you heard anything about this? We're hoping it will work to our advantage.
