We had a fantastic time at Disneyland. It was wonderful to be in California where there is so much racial diversity. The weather was beautiful and made it hard to return to cold and snowy Utah. We loved being with
Tana's family. We were comfortable with each other right away. I've known Tana for some time now, but our husbands had yet to meet, and it had been awhile since our children had seen each other. It didn't take long for our kids to find a buddy in Tana's family and before I knew it, I was watching my kids walk hand-in-hand with their new best friends. Tana gives a terrific run-down of our trip, so you can read more about it there. I just have to say that for a party of seventeen, things went surprisingly smooth. We were the center of attention on occasion, but more for the sizes of our family than for the make-up of them. We saw a few other adoptive families, but I admit I had hoped to see more. We just had a great time and I am so happy we were able to go.
The day after we got home from California, we decided to look at houses. On Monday we found the house we wanted. We came home, started cleaning and packing our house, and told our realtor (my brother) that we wanted to make an offer. We were up until nearly 3 am Tuesday morning listing our house and putting together an offer for the new house. Tuesday afternoon, we found out our offer on the new house was accepted! We have spent the last couple of days cleaning, organizing and packing our house. We had our first showing this evening. Hopefully we will sell our home quickly. I can't believe we are moving!
The new house fits our needs so much better. It has a beautiful backyard and is in a very nice neighborhood. I look forward to raising our family in it. It is a little bittersweet after all of my day-dreaming, that Georgia and Talley will never live in our current home. I have imagined them both here for so long.
In adoption news, we are still waiting to hear whether we have been signed out of IBESR or not. I am feeling anxious as many people with file numbers after ours have been getting signed out. At least I will have something to keep me occupied during this long, difficult wait.
And how have you all been?
